The Webelos 1s have had a strong start to the 2011/2012 scnuoitg year. Sam and Timmy have been joined by James and John and are a great group. In early Fall, we met outside in front of a fire and went over some Outdoorsman skills including: fire starting and safety, knots fusing and whipping rope and even cooking on a campfire. As the weather has gotten colder, we have worked inside and completed Citizenship. We are currently focused on Scientist AND getting prepared for Pinewood Derby.A BIG thanks to Alex Swan who is our den chief this year and has been doing a fantastic job. The kids love Mink and miss seeing him over the past few weeks as sickness has taken him from us. We're all hoping to see him race a car in the adult race and show us how its done.

The Girls Scout books and teachings are too much into radical feminism in some areas now. I buy from the Boy Scouts, though. Some Girl Scout groups are worse than others, but from what I have heard, the liberalism is coming down from the top and is infiltrating to the bottom. Some groups are fighting it though, but beware.
