2008 Housatonic Council Spring Camporee

2008 Housatonic Council Spring Camporee at Hammonassett State Park, Madison

Arrive Fri, May 16 after 6PM (that is when adult leaders will be present). Please arrive as close to 6PM as possible so the entire patrol participates in setting up their campsite. Patrol carpooling is suggested.

Depart Sun May 18 at 10AM (following the closing ceremony)

Please note: All Scouts must remain at the campsite until their patrol’s area has been taken down, patrolled for litter and receives permission from the PL & SPL to depart.

Be prepared for all kinds of weather (chance of rain & cool nights). Refer to your scout handbook for complete list of short term camping individual equipment.

Patrols are responsible for cooking and cleaning their own meals. Each patrol has a menu and duty roster to follow for complete meals and fair distribution of duties.

Patrols are also reminded to review their patrol equipment list with Troop quartermaster Alex Oppel to ensure all required troop owned equipment is loaded into the trailer. Patrol leaders should review the complete ingredients and cleaning supplies list for meals with patrol Grubmaster to ensure you are prepared for great meals. Any adults planning to attend this event must notify Jim Frovarp/Bill McDonnell tonight so you are counted in for camping and eating numbers.

MUST WEAR CLASS B Uniform during the day (Troop t-shirt with either scout shorts and long socks or scout long pants). This is how we will identify our scouts from the general public.

CLASS A UNIFORM (Shirt, neckerchief, neckerchief slide, pants or shorts & socks) REQUIRED for church service and closing ceremony.

Scouts are not to leave the campsite without adult leader permission. Scouts must travel in patrols at all times. All bicycle riding must be done while wearing helmets. The Troop has helmets available.

We had several scouts who failed to bring uniforms to the Spring Camporee and this is not acceptable. The Order of the Arrow tap-out ceremony will also take place. All Paugassett Lodge members are reminded to bring their sashes.

I let you in on a little sreect - scouting depends on guys like you getting hooked. Adult leaders who get hooked and stay involved are the lifeblood of the organization.
